These slides of Evan Weaver's RailsConf presentation will provoke some head-scratching, but that's the point.
One interesting thing in the presentation is some code to enable using Django's admin interface as an admin interface for Rails applications.
The strategy is simple: use Django's auto-admin setter-upper, and then change the variables in the Python code which identify the columns to use. Actually implementing this is left as an exercise for the reader, but it's a nice alternative to things like Streamlined.
The most interesting part is the idea that databases are a hack for Web apps.
